Two Studies Document the Worldwide Benefits of Pesticides
In 2014, CropLife Foundation contributed information to two studies that clearly document the worldwide benefits of pesticides.
- In March, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) released a report that simulated the yield impacts for wheat, maize and rice from the adoption of agricultural technologies. Insecticides, fungicides and herbicides rank high on the list of technologies that could have the greatest impact. CropLife Foundation consultant prepared the background documents and set of impact estimates that were used by the IFPRI researchers. The IFPRI report can be accessed by clicking here.
- In November, The Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST) released a report that documents the contributions of pesticides in meeting the global need for food. CropLife Foundation consultant Leonard Gianessi was a coauthor of the report and contributed numerous references that are cited. The CAST report can be accessed by clicking here.
